Fun Holidays are light-hearted observances that celebrate everyday things—from Pizza Day to Talk Like a Pirate Day. They’re not official public holidays, but they bring some fun and trivia to the calendar.

Not likely. These are unofficial holidays, which means that employers are under no obligation to give you a day off to celebrate them.

We have strict criteria of including a Fun Holiday to our list—the holiday must be extensively observed in a country or region for a number of years.

If your Fun Holiday is only celebrated among a small group, we will not be able to add it to our list.

Yes, you can. Go to the page showing the Fun Holiday of your choice. In the top right corner, you can see a box with the Fun Holiday’s name and date. Click the button “add to calendar” to download a calendar file. You can import that file into your personal calendar—for example, the Apple, Google, or Microsoft calendar. Or you can click on the file, which should open your standard calendar. You can then add the Fun Holiday.

If you use the little calendar in the right sidebar (a “date picker”), you can skip ahead to the coming months and into the following year. You can then view the upcoming Fun Holidays. We don’t display Fun Holidays for all years as we do for official holidays and observances, since the dates for Fun Holidays are not published reliably; they are inofficial dates and can change at any time.
