Maximum in Bentiu This is the moment when the eclipse reaches its greatest magnitude while the entire Moon is above the horizon in Bentiu. The true maximum point of this eclipse cannot be seen in Bentiu because the Moon is below the horizon at that time.
Since the Moon is near the horizon at this time, we recommend going to a high point or finding an unobstructed area with free sight to West for the best view of the eclipse.
Map direction West 260°
0.4°
5:54 am Fri, Aug 28 Setting Moonset Setting, but the combination of a very low moon and the total eclipse phase makes the Moon so dim before it sets, that it might disappear from view some time before it sets. Map direction West 260°
-0.2°
6:12 am Fri, Aug 28 Not directly visible Maximum Eclipse Below horizon Map direction West 261°
-5.2°
7:51 am Fri, Aug 28 Not directly visible Partial Eclipse ends Below horizon Map direction West 264°

9:01 am Fri, Aug 28 Not directly visible Penumbral Eclipse ends Below horizon Map direction West 266°
-45.1°

The curvature of the shadow's path and the apparent rotation of the Moon's disk is due to the Earth's rotation.

During this partial lunar eclipse, the Earth's shadow covers only parts of the Moon, as seen from Bentiu. There are no other locations on Earth where the Moon appears completely covered during this event. The Earth's shadow covers a large portion of the Moon, so this is still a nice sight.
